International Congress Centre
Existing Site Conditions
1. Lack of Presence
The Ottawa Congress Center,
as a structure, lacks presence
in the downtown core. Its facade
does little to distinguish itself
from the other buildings and is
easily mistaken as an extension
of the Rideau shopping center. From a distance, the OCC is
completely absent from the
Ottawa skyline.
3. Lack of Public Access
The OCC lacks regular public interaction, which leads to a lack of public awareness about the building, and lowers its presence in the downtown core. Also there is no public access between the OCC and the Rideau Terrace, which inhibits usability and lowers visibility of both places.
2 . Lack of Entrance
The lack of a well-defined entrance
makes the place difficult to find
for visitors and Ottawa residents.
